The FreeBSD Foundation has announced an End-of-Year Fund Raising Drive. The goal this year is to raise over $250,000. This money is used for sponsoring FreeBSD related conferences, providing travel grants to developers to attend these conferences, providing grants for projects that improve FreeBSD, and providing legal support on issues like understanding the GPLv3 impact on FreeBSD, trademarks, and other legal issues that come up.

The FreeBSD Foundation is auctioning off the First Copy of the book Absolute FreeBSD by Michael W. Lucas. You can be the first one to own this book, while helping the FreeBSD Project and community. This book was generously donated by the author himself and he will include an authentic laser-printed Certificate of Authenticity signed, and a signed bookplate.
All proceeds go to The FreeBSD Foundation!

Jem Matzan over on his site The Jem Report has a nice interview with Sam Leffler...
"During last weekend's Southern California Linux Expo 5x, Sam Leffler of the FreeBSD Project and FreeBSD Foundation and "old school" hacker from the UC Berkeley Computer Systems Research Group (where the original Berkeley Software Distribution was developed) took some time to explain to me what the Foundation actually does, and the kind of work it has fostered. We also chatted briefly about the current status of FreeBSD, and the degree to which Apple contributes to the Project."
